I have always felt that great art should be meaningful and inspiring, but it should also be enjoyable (read: fun!) to view… I personally like to walk away from a piece of art feeling as though I have just experienced something which will impact me, whether making me consider another worldview or simply encouraging me to appreciate a certain aspect of life.

When I paint and create artwork I strive to relay an image, feeling, memory, or concept in a way that others might not have considered it previously - if at all. I oftentimes engage my own, deeper emotions in developing my pieces, resulting in artwork that can become quite personal and reflective of who I am and what I love. You also may notice a strong theme of juxtaposition or apparent contradiction in my abstract and at once impressionistic artwork, which is my trademark style of painting. I find it fascinating to portray polar opposites of life while simultaneously making these things "pop"; the mixing of the old with the new, the vintage with the modern, the soft with the harsh can allow subjects to jump off the canvas more astonishingly when you aren't necessarily expecting them to... Strong bursts of color will also oftentimes catch my viewer's eye, as I have experienced time and time again how color has the potential to profoundly impact people in a myriad of ways.

Striving to bring viewers enjoyment and create an impact, I am frequently reminded of Hans Hoffman's wise words, when he said...

"Through a painting we can see the world."

I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it.
