I have always felt that real art should be meaningful and inspiring, but it should also be enjoyable to view… I personally like to walk away from an exhibit or a museum feeling as though I have just experienced something which will impact me, whether making me consider another worldview or simply encouraging me to appreciate a certain aspect of life…
When I paint and create artwork, I strive to relay an image, a feeling, or a concept in a way that others might not have considered it previously. I oftentimes engage my own, deeper emotions in developing my pieces, resulting in artwork that can become quite personal. I also tend to use strong bursts of color, as I have seen from experience that color has the potential to profoundly impact people in a myriad of ways.
Though many artists through the ages have tried to articulate the essence and meaning of art in a grand scope, I feel that only one artist has risen above all others when he said,
"The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection."
Michelangelo's sentiment is what drives and inspires me. It is also what truly infuses all of my work, as I am continually reminded of where all art and beauty originate.
I hope you enjoy my artwork as much as I enjoy creating it.
